Update: Thunderstorm warning ended but wind warning remains

Damaging winds could blow through Sudbury

Updated at 1:14 p.m. on Sept. 21: Environment Canada has ended the severe thunderstorm warning for Greater Sudbury and area. However, the wind warning that was issued earlier today remains in effect.

Updated at 12:28 p.m. on Sept. 21: Environment Canada has updated its special weather statement for the Greater Sudbury area. The wind warning that was in effect has been changed to a severe thunderstorm warning. Keep an eye out for updates as they become avcailable.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Greater Sudbury and vicinity, as there's a chance for some damaging winds on Friday, Sept. 21.

Westerly winds with gusts of 70 to 90 km/h are forecast to develop in association with a frontal passage Friday. The strongest gusts are expected from late morning into the afternoon.

Wind warnings may be required.
