Bishop Alexander Carter Catholic Secondary School staff and students joined family members for an annual fundraising memorial walk in memory of Mackenzie Rooney and Dennis Dechaine today.

The walk is an opportunity to remember the lives of former student Rooney and teacher Dechaine, and to raise money for their scholarship fund as well as to support other activities that she enjoyed within the school.

Students also walked in memory of loved ones who have passed away.

They canvassed the community for donations from Sept. 14 to 28 with the goal of raising $10,000.

The walk begam at 8:30 a.m. with a memorial tribute and a Zumba warm-up. The afternoon will be full of fun events such as karaoke and a teacher vs. student flag football game.

Money raised will be going towards Mackenzie’s and Dennis’ scholarship fund, KICX for Kids and other charities within the community.
