The funding will be targeted to advancing a marketing and branding strategy for blueberry products under the newly registered brand name Blue Pearls of the North. The co-op will also increase its amount of wild berries for sale, diversify sales, develop value added products and promote its products at the next Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto.

Brian Berdusco, president of the co-op said ?the support of the federal government will accelerate the co-op?s growth into new and exciting areas of product and market development.

?Our mission is to transform Blue Pearls of the North into a brand name which stands for natural products of the highest quality.?

The co-op will establish three purchasing sites in the City of Greater Sudbury in the very near future.
