Canaqua Sports will present its first ever SwimRun Challenge, taking place at Kivi Park on July 30.

The 19 km course will consist of alternating swim and run distances for participants to complete over a variety of terrain throughout Kivi Park, including Crowley Lake.

Features of the SwimRun challenge include:

  • Multiple legs, whereby the athletes alternate being swimming and running numerous times
  • Unpredictability of leg variations. Part of the challenge is conquering the course no matter what conditions are present.
  • Swimming aids (Paddles, fins, pull buoys and wetsuits) are permitted, but must be worn/carried during the run. Likewise, running shoes must be worn or carried during the swim. This juxtaposition of events lends much to the conflict of strategy faced by participants.

Participants are asked to check in between 7 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.  on race day, with a mandatory athlete's meeting scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Race start time is 9 a.m.
