Sudbury Regional Hospital's board of directors and senior management will be discussing budget cuts during a closed meeting June 9.

The hospital is facing a deficit of close to $12 million this year.

"Please be advised that budget discussions will occur in the closed session of the board meeting on June 9. In keeping with labour employment obligations, the HRSRH will communicate the budget plan with employees and union groups following the board meeting," stated a note to the media accompanying the agenda for the public portion of the meeting.

"The board of directors and senior management will provide a report to public and media once labour employment communications is complete."

Hospital spokesperson Sean Barrette told Northern Life that a press conference about the cuts will likely be no sooner than the afternoon of June 10.
