Building stronger Canadians: Multicultural Association hosts youth event

Dozens of youths gather at Caruso Club to learn more about Canada

The Sudbury Multicultural and Folk Arts Association hosted a youth group event on April 22 at the Caruso Club.

The event was attended by a number of young Sudburians who have immigrated to Canada.

Guest speakers included Northern Life/Sudbury.com publisher Abbas Homayed, GSPS Cst. Nihad Hasanefendic, as well as Sudbury MP Paul Lefebvre and Nickel Belt MP Marc Serré.

"This event is just to get people who may be new to Canada or who have lived here for a while to get familiar with what our community has to offer," said Dr. Remi Ogundimu, president of the Sudbury Multicultural and Folk Arts Association.

"We have guest speakers who have been in the same situations as them who will be sharing their stories, and sharing information as to what resources are available to them."

The event also featured performances by a Chinese dance group, a First Nations drummer, and India-Canadian dancers.
