Environment Canada has revised the special weather statement for the Greater Sudbury area issued earlier today.

Snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 centimetres were expected today through Wednesday morning when it is expected to taper off. Now, Environment Canada is calling for snowfall in the seven to 12-centimetre range, that should taper off by late evening.

Falling snow, blowing snow and winds gusting to 70 km/h are still expected.

Environment Canada said the cause of the snowfall is a strengthening low-pressure system expected to move through eastern Ontario into Quebec today into Wednesday.
