Walden Cross Country Fitness Club is hosting several exciting events in the coming week and all members of the public are invited to attend.
Family Day Ski Party:
Starting on Family Day, Feb. 20, the club will be hosting a family ski party with obstacle course, bonfires, and a free hot dog and s'mores roast. The event runs from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. and costs $70 for a family of three (extra members are $15 each).
Night Lights Race:
The fun continues on Tuesday, Feb. 21 with the final installment of the Night Lights race series. The four-part race series started on Jan. 10 and will wrap up Tuesday evening on the lit trails.
Entry fee for the race is $10, and half price for children 12 and under. Races are open to everyone, young and old, fast or slow. Registration is between 6:15 - 6:30 p.m. on race day, with races going off at 7 p.m.
Snacks and hot chocolate will be provided for participants, and prizes and awards are handed out after the race.
Beaver Lake Loppet:
Finally, Walden XC will host the 2017 Beaver Lake Loppet & Pancake Lunch on Feb. 25 at the Beaver Lake ski trails in Worthington. This event is $20 to enter the open category (5km and 10km) and $15 for the midget category (2.5km). Bunnies (100m) and jackrabbit (250m and 1km) skiers ski for free.
The open category and midget skiers hit the trails at 10:30 a.m., while the bunnies and jackrabbits will get underway at 11:30 a.m.
Registration closes on Feb. 22 at 11:59 p.m. and participants can register at www.waldenxc.ca/registration, and there will be no online registration on race day.
Those who register will receive 50 per cent off a trail pass for Feb. 26. All participants will get free pancakes and hot chocolate and will be entered into a draw for prizes.
