Durham Street came alive on Saturday as Mother Nature lovers filled the streets.
Organized by Sudbury's Horticulture Society, the Sudbury Gardening Festival is a chance for the community to purchase perennials, annuals, vegetable starts, trees and flowers -- just about everything a gardener needs to get started or add to gardening endeavours — from local vendors.
However, it is not just plants that could be found at the garden fest, garden ornaments and organic foods also lined the streets.
For a second year, Kari-Anne Piche had returned to the Gardening Festivel selling her sculptures made of paverpool, fabric hardener mixed with glue.
“I first saw this art in Edmonton, and decided to bring it back to Sudbury,” Piche said.
As many flocked to her tent to gaze at her creations, Piche also offered them a chance to sign up for her workshops.
“These are full-day workshops where anyone can learn how to make these sculptors,” Piche said.
"This art is very forgiving, so there is always a way to cover-up mistakes which makes it easy to start," Piche said
Piche added in the past two years the response had been phenomenal.
“I am very busy, I am booked all the way until October,” Piche said.
The Gardening Festival also provided opportunities for amateur gardeners to gain some valuable advice on sowing, potting etc.
Buyers could also be heard sharing tips with other buyers on growing a perfect plant.
