Safe Ride Home Sudbury wrapped up its first weekend of the 2018 campaign, responding to 56 calls for service, up 44 per cent from their first weekend last year.

Volunteers travelled 1,600 km on Sudbury area roads Friday evening and into Saturday morning to get Sudburians home safe and sound.

Safe Ride Home Sudbury will be operating every Friday and Saturday from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. until the end of the year, plus New Year's Eve.

Remember that a Safe Ride Home is just a phone call away. Save 705-675-CALL (2255) into your phone before you go out and remember to have the pink insurance slip for your vehicle with you.

Volunteers are still needed for the upcoming weekends, as demand is expected to rise substantially. Applications are available at Tim Hortons locations around Greater Sudbury.

You can come out with family and friends or as an individual and the organization will put you in a team.

For more information contact Safe Ride Home Sudbury president Lesli Green at 705-923-6672 or [email protected].
