Best points to the increasing case counts and presence of the highly contagious Omicron variant and the resulting restrictions across the province. He states that while the college had hoped for more in-person activity in January, “after careful consideration, we must once again adapt our plans to keep our community safe.”
As such, the following changes will be implemented immediately:
Remote Work Through to Holiday Closure:
- Those who can work remotely until the holiday closure December 23 are encouraged to do so
- Employees required to work in-person to support the completion of the Fall Term and prepare for the Winter Term will continue to attend campus, following all safety precautions
Start of Winter Term through January 28:
- In anticipation of a rise in case counts over the holiday season, all theory courses will be delivered virtually, with only necessary hands-on labs being delivered in person and on campus. Further details will be provided directly to students as required.
- Apprenticeship training will proceed as planned.
- Clinical placements, co-ops, and internships will continue as planned provided that the partner is able to support these experiential learning opportunities.
- The cafeteria and athletics centre will be closed.
- The library will remain open although there may be a reduction in hours.
- Most student services will transition back to online delivery.
- Dental and massage clinics will remain available to support the clinical components of the dental hygiene and massage therapy programs.
- Employees will continue to work from home, though rotations will continue for those employees who must be onsite to facilitate learning and the day-to-day operation of the campus.
- Students and staff are asked to depart campus upon completion of their academic study and/or work.

“We are nearing the two-year mark of dealing with the pandemic and it has not been easy. I am grateful for the flexibility and cooperation shown by the entire Cambrian community as we work to keep our students and staff safe and ensure that learning may continue.”
