A construction company has been honoured for its part in building up Cambrian College students and graduates.

Pioneer Construction and Fisher Wavy are this year’s recipients of the Cambrian College Employer Award of Distinction, presented by Palladino Auto Group.

The award recognizes an organization, company or individual that has demonstrated exemplary support for Cambrian, its students and graduates.

The award was presented to Pioneer Construction and Fisher Wavy at Cambrian’s annual Career Fair Conference this week.

“Pioneer Construction and Fisher Wavy are pillars of our community when it comes to leadership, community support and success in business,” said Renee Scott, Cambrian’s Director of Marketing, Recruitment and Student Success.

“They have been an important part of Cambrian’s community for more than 15 years, accepting co-op students, apprentices, summer students and actively recruiting from our pool of graduates each year. On behalf of Cambrian College, I am truly excited to recognize the leadership group from Pioneer Construction and Fisher Way as this year’s recipients of our Employer Award of Distinction.”

Based in Sudbury, both Pioneer Construction and Fisher Wavy have a long history in the Sudbury area and with Cambrian College. Pioneer Construction builds and maintains highways and roads across Northern Ontario, and Fisher Wavy is one of Canada’s leading suppliers of ready-mix concrete and aggregates.

“We are fortunate to have such a wonderful college right at our doorstep where we can source talented students,” said Natalie Parent, Human Resources Manager for Pioneer Construction and Fisher Wavy.

“At Pioneer Construction and Fisher Wavy, we believe that everyone needs an opportunity to apply their academic experience and we are proud to be a viable choice for those students. We have numerous alumni who have made positive contributions to our organization, and we look forward to that trend continuing.”

Cambrian College’s Career Fair Conference is the largest event of its kind in Northern Ontario.

This year’s conference featured more than 100 companies and organizations from across all sectors.

Cambrian College thanked all of its sponsors for this year’s Career Fair Conference: Palladino Auto Group, Vale, Freelandt Caldwell Reilly LLP, GardaWorld, Gold Leaf Financial Group, Official Languages Programs, Paramed and Sandvik.
