Cambrian College’s Virtual Career Fair Conference has ended on a high note for Ionic Mechatronics.

At the conference closing ceremony in late February, the Lively-based Ionic was named as this year’s winner of Cambrian’s annual Employer Award of Distinction.

“Ionic Mechatronics is such an amazing company and a truly valued partner of Cambrian College,” said Renee Scott, Cambrian’s Director of Student Success, in a press release.

“Andre Dumais and his team have shown so much support for our students and graduates. The company stands out as a community leader and its dedication to the Greater Sudbury community and the college are unparalleled.

“Under those principles and its leadership, Ionic has quickly become one of the choice employers that are pursuing our graduates for an amazing first job and an excellent first step in a rewarding career.”

Ionic Mechatronics was chosen from a list of three finalists this year, which included the Ivey Group and Vianet.

This is the third year Cambrian College has recognized a leading company with its Employer Award of Distinction. Previous winners have included Hard Line Solutions (2020) and BESTECH (2019).

“It’s a great honour to win this award,” said Andre Dumais, President of Ionic Mechatronics. “Any time that the work you put into a company gets recognized by any organization is spectacular. But the fact that this is Cambrian College, a highly respected organization, it means a little bit more. We have a great relationship with Cambrian. Their students and graduates are hard-working and it’s fantastic to work with the college’s Research & Development arm. It’s a strong selling point for our business.”

Due to COVID-19, this year’s Career Fair Conference was held online over a three-week period this month. More than 70 employers engaged with more than 570 students and graduates of Cambrian College.
