A champion of inclusion and access for the disabled from Cambrian College has been awarded a prestigious provincial award.

The Ontario College Administrative Staff Association (OCASA) has honoured Susan Alcorn MacKay, the Director of Disability Services at Cambrian's Glenn Crombie Centre, with the 2005 OCASA Doug Light Award for Administrative Excellence.

Each year, the award recognizes an Ontario college administrator for his or her excellence, leadership and contribution to others.

Alcorn MacKay has been a member of the Cambrian community since 1986. She has long been a champion of inclusion and access for the disabled and has been instrumental in the development of the college's Glenn Crombie Centre for disability services and the Northern Ontario Assessment and Resource Centre at Cambrian.

As an author and expert on disability services, Alcorn MacKay is involved in the number of local, provincial, national and international initiatives related to disability services. She is also a member of various provincial and national organizations, including the Association of Disability Services Providers in Post-Secondary Education and the College Committee on Disability Issues.

Her commitment to excellence has garnered her numerous awards, including the Cambrian College President's Award for Excellence, the Educator of the Year Award from the Council for Exceptional Children, an Association of Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology of Ontario Award in the Distinguished Service category and an International Exemplary Leadership Award from the Chair Academy.
