Capreol Days packs weekend full of family-friendly activities

Volunteers already planning 2018 festivities to celebrate Capreol’s 100th anniversary

The tight-knit community in Capreol celebrated the August long weekend in style with its annual Capreol Days festivities.

On Saturday Capreol’s downtown core hosted a number of children’s activities, including face painting, arts and crafts, a bouncy castle and even a zombie picnic.

The downtown was also home to a number of food vendors to help parents get the energy they needed to keep up with their children.

On Sunday Capreol’s Centennial Field hosted a Family Fun Day and BBQ, that included classic games like a three-legged race, water balloon relay and a bean bag toss.

“It’s a really strong community,” said Della Gauthier, a volunteer at the event and one of Capreol Days’ organizers.

While Gauthier said they have their sights on next year, the really big party will be in 2018, when Capreol celebrates its 100th anniversary. She said plans are already in the works to make that celebration the biggest yet for the small community north of Sudbury.
