If you're looking for some family fun during the Civic Holiday long weekend, Capreol is the place to be. The community's annual summer festival, Capreol Days, is set for Aug. 4-6.

“It's an opportunity to showcase Capreol and for family and friends to get together in a social atmosphere like old times,” said festival chair Lynn Mazzuca.

“I hope that everybody comes out that weekend and enjoys everything we've got to offer.”

The festival starts Friday, Aug. 4 with the Mad Hatter's Garden Tour & Tea Party. There will also be a fish fry at the Legion Friday afternoon and evening.

Saturday, Aug. 5 is the main event, with activities taking place throughout the community's downtown starting at 9:30 a.m., including children's activities, food vendors, a firefighters' dunk tank, a bike decorating contest and a blueberry pie eating contest.

Little Obie, a six-foot-high scale model of a CN locomotive that's large enough for both kids and adults to ride on, returns for another year.

New this year is an escape room set up by Sudbury Escape Rooms in the old CIBC building. Admission to this activity is $10 per person. Saturday caps off with an evening performance by River Valley at the Capreol Legion.

During the afternoon of Sunday, Aug. 6 there's a family fun day with old-fashioned family games and a free barbecue at Centennial Field. The festival ends Sunday evening with a pasta dinner at Our Lady of Peace Church.
