Bystanders got to witness live car crushing outside the BM Metals recycling facility in New Sudbury, and it was all for a good cause.
The hard day of car crushing was part of the Scrap Cancer fundraiser, to help support the Northern Cancer Foundation.
“It’s such an easy way to give,” said Christine Harvey, a board member with the Northern Cancer Foundation a contract manager with BM Metals.
The company collects scrap metal from businesses and individuals and uses the money it generates from that metal throughout the month of May for the fundraiser.
In past years Harvey said the annual event has raised around $20,000, for a total of around $100,000 since its inception five years ago.
The Northern Cancer Foundation says every penny it receives stays in the community and directly supports vital patient care, new equipment purchases and world-class cancer research Sudbury.
