Families and friends can create these mandalas by retrieving materials from their yard or their neighborhood (like pinecones, acorns, dried flowers, etc) and arranging them in a circular shape that almost radiates out from the center – kind of like how the sun (a solar sphere) radiates heat from the centre.

The Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury invites Sudbury residents to create nature mandalas to celebrate the Earth’s changing seasons.

Families and friends can create these mandalas by retrieving materials from their yard or their neighborhood (like pinecones, acorns, dried flowers, etc) and arranging them in a circular shape that almost radiates out from the centre – kind of like how the sun (a solar sphere) radiates heat from the center.

“What can you find on your next walk to create a beautiful mandala?” a press release by the coalition wrote. “Be sure to use mostly found and fallen items, and to leave plenty of natural cover intact for insects and other small critters.”

When the mandala is complete, feel free to take a photo of the creation and tag @liveablesud on Instagram any time in April.

“Let’s fill our community with creative celebrations of spring!” the coalition wrote.

The Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury is a grassroots network of Sudburians who are working towards a sustainable and liveable community. For more information, visit the website here.
