Switching roles, Francine Vaillancourt has been elected chair of Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord for the next school year, and Anne-Marie Gélineault vice-chair.
Representing the Greater Sudbury region, Vaillancourt has been a trustee since 2018 and the board’s vice-chair since 2020.
Vaillancourt has played an active role on board committees such as the Business and Facilities Committee, the Human Resources Committee, the Policy Committee, the Special Education Committee and the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
Gélineault, the trustee for the Greenstone and Thunder Bay regions, has been with the board since 2006 and was chairperson for four years.
As trustee, Gelineault has played an active role on several board committees such as the Business and Facilities Committee, the Policy Committee, the Audit Committee and the Education Committee.
Vaillancourt and Gélineault are delighted to be able to continue the board's mission to ensure a learning environment that is welcoming, forward-thinking and open to the world.
“We are fully committed to strengthening the ties between schools, families and communities, and to making decisions that promote the success and well-being of all students,” they said. “CS Grand Nord will continue to place students at the heart of its priorities, with a strong commitment to quality education that is equitable and accessible to all.”
