Marie Litalien is shifting from the City of Greater Sudbury’s Communications and Community Engagement director to the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce, as president and CEO.

Litalien is slated to replace outgoing president and CEO Debbi Nicholson, who is retiring after 45 years with the organization.

“We are very excited to welcome Marie to our highly-respected team in both the Sudbury business community as well as the chamber network across Ontario and Canada, effective July 2,” board chair Geoffrey Hatton said in a media release issued by the Chamber.

“Marie brings extensive experience and a track record of success in engaging and leading teams founded on her extensive qualifications.”

The chamber’s media release credits Litalien as being an “accomplished professional with a depth of experience in policy, governance, government administration, public relations and communications.”

“When I think of the chamber, I envision opportunities for every resident of this community… opportunities for jobs, for growth and for a better quality of life,” Litalien said in the media release.

“It is an impressive network of members, staff and partners with a clear, common purpose. It is truly humbling to reflect on how my experiences have led me to this new place, and I am honoured and excited to be a part of something so impactful and inspiring.”

Litalien thanked Nicholson, whose “dedication and tireless work” helped the organization become established “as one of the most respected organizations in the community.”

Litalien is slated to begin her new position on July 2, and is expected to begin reaching out to members, community partners and key stakeholders soon.
