Everyone has a bit of superhero in them.

On Sunday, the Sudbury Wolves want you to channel that inner superhero and help raise funds for the NEOKids Foundation.

The Wolves face off against Niagara IceDogs in the St. Louis Bar and Grill Superhero Jersey game. The Wolves will wear Batman-themed jerseys when they take the ice. Those jerseys will be auctioned off through a silent auction. All proceeds go to NEOKids.

“We are thankful to the Sudbury Wolves for hosting the Superhero Jersey Day in support of NEO Kids Foundation,” said Patricia Mills, President of NEO Kids Foundation.

“There is nothing more unique or special than seeing our community come together to support health care for children across northeastern Ontario. Being sick at a hospital is never fun, especially for children, but they are constantly proving that there is a hero inside all of us.”

Andrew Dale, vice-president, marketing and development for the Wolves, said the event is near and dear to the heart of the organization. The Sudbury Wolves were the first team in the Canadian Hockey League to don superhero jerseys during a game.

In addition to the jersey auction, funds will also be raised through a special superhero raffle and Skater's Edge will also be selling a limited number of Superhero t-shirts with $5 from every t-shirt sold going towards the charity.

Additional corporate ticket packages were sold specially for the afternoon affair that will help the celebration and the charitable cause. Sunday’s game is sponsored by St. Louis Bar & Grill. Fans are encouraged to dress up as their favourite Superhero as St. Louis will be awarding lucky fans during the first intermission costume contest.

Brianna Fram, a spokesperson for NEOKids Foundation, said the two organizations joining forces is a perfect example of community partnership.

“The Wolves truly are our community team,” she said.

The puck drops at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The game wraps up a busy weekend for the Wolves as they host the North Bay Battalion on Friday.
