Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus called for an emergency debate in parliament on the future of Laurentian University last night. 

The debate was expected to centre around keeping the university from axing programs such as midwifery and was slated to start at around 8:30 p.m.

The motion was brought forward by NDP MPs Charlie Angus, Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing MP Carol Hughes and London-Fanshawe MP Lindsay Mathyssen.
