Updated: Cedar Street closed for cleanup after bus fire

Passengers had to be evacuated from the bus, no injuries reported

Updated: Oct. 7, 2:35 p.m.

Cedar Street has been closed from Brady Street to Paris Street to clean up fuel on the road.  Work is expected to take several hours.

Original story:

A Greater Sudbury Transit bus caught fire while travelling along Cedar Street in the downtown core this morning.

Passengers had to be evacuated from the burning vehicle, but escaped without any injuries, Sudbury.com has been told.

The blackened, smoky wreck is still parked on Cedar so if you're travelling in the downtown, you might want to avoid that area.

From photos, it appears the majority of the damage is in the rear of the bus, where the engine is located.
