City extends water conservation appeal

The City of Greater Sudbury has extended its appeal to residents of Sudbury, Coniston, Wahnapitae, the western portion of Garson, and Markstay to avoid unnecessary use of municipal water through the coming weekend.

The City of Greater Sudbury has extended its appeal to residents of Sudbury, Coniston, Wahnapitae, the western portion of Garson, and Markstay to avoid unnecessary use of municipal water through the coming weekend.

Water service from the Wanapitei Water Treatment Plant has been temporarily suspended for adjustments to the filtration system.

Residents in the above noted areas will continue to receive municipal water service through the David Street Water Treatment Plant and the Ellis Reservoir until work is completed.

Reduced capacity may result in low water pressure if current levels of consumption continue. Residents and businesses are asked to defer non-essential activities that consume large amounts of water, such as laundering, car washing, watering lawns and filling swimming pools.

The city will issue further bulletins as information becomes available.
