The City of Greater Sudbury is hosting what it’s calling a “visioning workshop” on the future of downtown Sudbury on Nov. 18.

The goal of the event is a “visioning activity”, which will involve discussions “to refine the vision of downtown Sudbury’s future.”

The event will be held at Place des Arts, 27 Larch St., on Nov. 18 from 6-8:30 p.m.

The interactive event will feature:

  • Presentation: Learn about the successes of the 2012 Downtown Sudbury Master Plan, recent developments and why it's time for an update.
  • Visioning Activity: Participate in engaging discussions to refine the vision for downtown Sudbury's future.
  • Mapping Activity: Offer detailed feedback on specific downtown areas, focusing on current conditions and potential improvements.

The review of the Downtown Master Plan (DMP) is currently in the second of four phases with completion expected in late 2025, the city said in a news release. The plan was approved in 2012.
“Many of the initiatives identified in the plan, including the McEwen School of Architecture and Place des Arts, have already been successfully completed, while other projects, like the Cultural Hub and Event Centre, remain underway,” the release states.
