The City of Greater Sudbury has received a request to name a lane-way Promenade Diane Marleau Way at Pioneer Manor, after the late Diane Marleau.
Throughout the next 30 days, residents are invited to submit input regarding this proposal.
Marleau, who passed away from cancer on Jan. 30, 2013, served the people of Sudbury for close to 30 years, first as a city councillor, then as the Member of Parliament. From 1993 to 1999, she held the Cabinet portfolios of health, public works, international co-operation and Francophone.
Marleau, although born in Kirkland Lake, had been a resident of Greater Sudbury for almost 50 years. She most wanted to be remembered for “fighting the good fight” and for serving the people of Greater Sudbury well.
The lane-way at Pioneer Manor is a private road that surrounds the Manor.
