Sudbury's Maison McCulloch hospice was pleased recently to receive a $2,500 donation from Canada's CLAC union, as part of the one the union's Building Communities program.
CLAC said it is committed to supporting the communities where members live and work through the Building Communities program. Twice a year, the union donates to up to 15 randomly selected causes from eligible nominations, to help support the important work they do in their community.
All causes are nominated by CLAC members, with donations ranging from $1,000 to $2,500.
The donation was nominated by Joanne Lachance, who is a member of Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 52, employed by Caro Equipment Inc.
“Maison McCulloch Hospice is a one-level, freestanding building that has 20 rooms with beds and individual bathrooms for residents that would benefit from a palliative approach to care,” said Lachance.
“This particular residence provides the look and feel of a home rather than a long term care facility, as well as the requisite technology, equipment, and supplies to provide quality 24/7 palliative care. This donation will go toward their yearly goal of reaching one million dollars to continuously offer services and programs at no cost.”
