College Boreal counsellor receives distinguished award

Louise Gervais-Guy, a counsellor at Collège Boréal, has received the 2005 Distinguished Service Award from the Association of Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology of Ontario (ACAATO).

Louise Gervais-Guy, a counsellor at Collège Boréal, has received the 2005 Distinguished Service Award from the Association of Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology of Ontario (ACAATO).

The Distinguished Service Award honours individuals who have provided leadership in their institution or the college system and have fostered changes that have resulted in substantial improvement locally or provincially.

Gervais-Guy has been working in the college system for more than 30 years and has been involved in several projects over the course of her career including peer tutoring, student welcoming and integration programs, learning disabilities early detection program and an online tutoring project.

Since 2004, she has promoted the welcoming of foreign students by actively participating in the establishment of the intercultural club Tam-Tam and in the development of an information kit on life and culture in Canada sent to future students from Africa.
