College Boreal cut the ribbon on its virtual biology lab this week with the participation of faculty members, staff and learners.

Jean-Louis Jean, Biology Professor at College Boreal and one of the originators of the virtual lab, is pleased with the development of this project:

?The lab is the final step of a strategy to improve the overall understanding of human biology by our learners," said Jean-Louis Jean, biology professor at College Boreal.

"We started with the creation of a biology lab at our Sudbury campus. Following this, we were looking for a way to provide access to this lab to all the learners located within our territory. The project became the virtual biology lab.?

All learners with biology courses have access to the lab, as long as they have access to the Internet. The virtual lab also includes a tutoring service. Learners interested to use this virtual lab only need to register and to obtain a mandatory biology manual used in the college's biology classroom.

?The virtual biology lab shows that all the learners in our territory are our main focus. Teachers from the health care programs, staff from the learning support services . . . worked together to create a tool and a service that will increase the success rate of our learners in a specific field," said Denis Hubert, the college's president.
