The Sudbury Performance Group presents veteran comedy performer Jimmy Flynn on stage in Sudbury on June 3.

“Jimmy Flynn is a Canadian icon,” said Mark Mannisto, president of Sudbury Performance Group, in a news release. “He is a classic entertainer and a definite crowd pleaser, and we are so thrilled to be able to present him to a Sudbury audience!”

After 35 years, the Jimmy Flynn Show remains one of the most memorable performances available. You might recall him dressed in his trademark red-checkered shirt, yellow sou’wester, and rubber boots.

He has shared the stage with The Dixie Chicks, Johnny Cash, Tommy James and the Shondells, Charlie Pride, The Everley Brothers, and Cheech and Chong. Flynn has produced and broadcast more than 400 radio shows, a 13-week television series, four feature-length comedy videos that have gone double- and triple-platinum, seven gold CDs, a Christmas recording for children, and a four-time bestselling joke book.

There is only one rule at a Jimmy Flynn show–have a good time.

“If there is one thing people have in common, it’s the need to laugh,” Flynn said in the release. “I know it’s been said many times, but I really believe that laughter is the best medicine. I know it works for me, and so far, it works for my audiences. When people come to my show, they have a good time.”

The show is June 3 at the Sheridan Auditorium at Sudbury Secondary School. Curtain is at 8 p.m. Tickets are $35 or $55 for VIP (includes premium seating and meet-and-greet).

Tickets are available at sudburyperformance.ca or by calling 705-662-8518.
