A new company offering home oxygen and sleep therapy solutions recently opened in Sudbury's south end with hopes of giving residents, who have respiratory problems, more independence in their daily activities.

Complete Healthcare Solutions Patients are referred to the office by area sleep labs after participating in sleep studies.

"We have referrals from sleep labs, both in North Bay and Sudbury so far. They would come into the office after going through studies at the sleep labs to determine if they have any condition," said Jean St-Aubin, clinical director/owner, Complete Healthcare Solutions.

"Once they come into here we would set them up with specific equipment at specific settings to treat them at home for their condition."

St-Aubin is a respiratory therapist who treats patients on CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure), for sleep and oxygen therapy.

"The respiratory therapy relates to a broad range of things, but this in particular is home care. So anybody at home having respiratory issues needing home oxygen or compressors for asthma, that type of thing. Then also we specialize in sleep therapy for people who have obstructive sleep apnea or central sleep apnea."

St-Aubin's wife, Jana, is a registered nurse with Sudbury Regional Hospital and helps her husband as the clinical care co-ordinator of the company.

"What we provide patients with is the portable oxygen concentrators so they don't have to haul around the liquid cylinders any more. It's just to increase patients independence in their activities while they're living on oxygen."

The portable oxygen concentrators are compact in size and can be run on either batteries, AC or DC power.

"So it's very portable and it gives patients convenience and independence," she said.

Complete Healthcare Solutions is located at 2009 Long Lake Road, in unit 305 of the Medical Arts building. Business hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m, Monday to Friday.

They are, however, open on weekends by appointment. For more information call 523-9400.
