The topic of residency in the age of online learning will be debated at an upcoming free computer conference initiated by the Canadian Virtual University (CVU).

Laurentian University is a member of the CVU as part oa a consortium of 13 universities across Canada who deliver complete programs through distance education or completely online.

Students who earn online degrees are less likely to take all their courses from a single university. With the variety of courses available online, students can look for programs that allow them flexibility to mix and match course from several institutions.

The computer conference will run for two weeks, starting Monday (Feb. 4). Members of the public can add their comments at any time between Feb. 4 and 18, or just sign in and see what others are saying about the need to retain or to relax traditional notions of residency in the changing environment of online
and distance learning.

For more information, phone Denis Mayer, vice-president of Student Affairs at Laurentian, at 675-1151, ext. 3940.
