Confirmed COVID-19 case at daycare operating out of St. John school in Garson

There has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 at Discovery Early Learning and Care Daycare operating out of St. John Catholic Elementary School in Garson.

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board posted a letter about the case dated Jan. 14 on its website.

Relevant staff and the parents/guardians of children who are required to self-isolate have been

notified, said the letter. Public Health Sudbury & Districts will follow up directly with close contacts.

The investigation by Public Health Sudbury & Districts is ongoing. 

The letter said the health unit closed the toddler, junior pre-school and kindergarten daycare groups Jan. 14.

The senior school aged before and after school program as well as the senior preschool programs remained open. 

Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting did take place, including the daycare, hallways, common areas and classrooms before classes began this morning.

At this time, there has been no Public Health direction related to the school as a result of the confirmed case at the daycare.
