With the assistance of students from the community's two schools, the Coniston Community Action Network is once again stocking up on brook trout.
The CAN will be stocking the fish into Coniston Creek on May 29 with assistance from the Ministry of Natural Resources, Coniston Lions Club, Ducks Unlimited and, of course, local students.
Half of the fish will be stocked into the creek behind the Coniston Curling Club at 10:30 a.m. that morning, while others will be transported farther upstream.
This is the third year in a row the creek has been stocked. Thus far, some 6,000 brook trout have been reintroduced in various locations along the creek. The stocked fish have ranged in size from four to nine inches and should be large enough to provide angling opportunities.
