Construction season continues

Drivers are advised to expect delays or detours at the following city road construction projects. Citizens who have questions or concerns related to municipal infrastructure are asked to call 3-1-1 for information. - Spanish River Rd.

Citizens who have questions or concerns related to municipal infrastructure are asked to call 3-1-1 for information.

-  Spanish River Rd.: Bridge rehabilitation will close through access on Spanish River Rd., west of Worthington Rd.  Motorists are asked to follow posted detours. Work is expected to be complete by the end of November.

-  Cedar St., Sudbury: Cedar St. will close to traffic between Durham and Elgin on Saturday, Oct. 20, between 7 am and 5 pm for the launch of Graffiti Awareness Week.

-  Lourdes St., Sudbury: Additional work to replace a water main and related services has extended the Lourdes St. project until mid-November. Lourdes is closed to through traffic between St. Raphael St. and Van Horne St. One lane remains open for local access.

-  First and Third Ave. Levack: Water main replacements on First and Third  have reduced traffic to one lane. Scheduled completion has been extended to mid-October.

-  Lasalle Blvd. and Barry Downe Rd., Sudbury: Motorists are advised of intermittent lane closures on Lasalle and Barry Downe  from now until mid-October, for maintenance of Greater Sudbury Hydro poles. To minimize delays, lane closures will be in effect between 9 am and 3:30 pm to avoid peak traffic periods. Eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane on Lasalle between Notre Dame and Attlee. Southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane on Barry Downe between Lasalle and The Kingsway. 

-  Marcel St., Sudbury: Major road reconstruction, water main replacement and sanitary sewer improvements have begun on Marcel St., between Bouchard St. and Nesbitt Dr. Marcel is closed to through traffic for construction.

Access will be maintained for residents and emergency vehicles. Work will continue to the end of November. Final paving and site restoration will be completed in the spring of 2008.

-  Kirkwood Dr., Sudbury: Installation of new water and wastewater mains has reduced traffic to one lane on Kirkwood for approximately 100 metres, north from Roderick Ave. Completion is scheduled for mid-October.

- The Kingsway, Falconbridge Rd to Southeast Bypass: Work to widen the Kingsway, between Falconbridge Rd. and the Southeast Bypass, is proceeding on schedule for completion next year. Four lanes plus a centre turn lane, between Falconbridge and Third Ave., are now paved. Work is continuing with drilling and blasting east of Levesque St. to the bypass. Motorists should expect traffic delays.
