Be afraid, be very afraid. The intersection of Barrydowne Road and Falconbridge Road, one of the busiest in the City of Greater Sudbury, goes under construction Tuesday. Work isn?t expected to be completed before Nov. 30.

The intersection will be closed for periods of up to 10 minutes as blasting takes place during off-peak hours.

The work is intended to increase the intersection?s traffic capacity in conjunction with the RioCan retail expansion behind Home Depot.

On the south side of The Kingsway, the Barrydowne Road intersection will be widened with a second turn lane for traffic exiting the RioCan Centre. On the north side, a second through lane will be constructed for traffic approaching from Lasalle Boulevard.

Meanwhile, construction on Paris Street continues and will continue to slow traffic on that busy thoroughfare for several more weeks.

The city apologizes for any inconveniece and urges driver to show patience over the next few weeks.
