Greater Sudbury Ward 11 council candidate John Lindsay wants Greater Sudbury to use "friendly" in its slogan, as it has in the past.

Sudbury is known for many good things, but our image as being “friendly” has not been as prominent as in the past, he said,

Now is the time to promote Sudbury as being a warm and welcoming place to visit, live, work and play – to make Sudbury "Friendly" again. Linday said.

The “Friendly Sudbury” slogan can be used in all of our communities: for example, Friendly Lively – Greater Sudbury, Friendly Coniston – Greater Sudbury and Friendly Downtown – Greater Sudbury, etc.

"Let’s take the opportunity to make Sudbury Friendly again – we can do it!" he said in a press release.

Let’s Make Sudbury "Friendly" Again – Councillor Candidate

Sudbury is known for many good things but our image as being “friendly” has not been as prominent as in the past. Now is the time to promote Sudbury as being a warm and welcoming place to visit, live, work and play – to make Sudbury "Friendly" again.

The “Friendly Sudbury” slogan can be used in all of our communities: examples: Friendly Lively – Greater Sudbury, Friendly Coniston – Greater Sudbury and Friendly Downtown – Greater Sudbury etc.

The Friendly Sudbury slogan besides creating a feel good feeling for all residents can form the basis for promotional and advertising campaigns to encourage tourism and even business development – simple, easy to remember and most important - relevant.

A bilingual logo has been developed (shown below and attached) utilizing Greater Sudbury colours and the motto “clean and green”. Graphic artists in our schools could be encouraged to create other “Friendly Sudbury” logos as well as posters etc.

Also Facebook and websites could be created to further show the world our beautiful and unique city. I have two examples of websites promoting our community which I developed. They are www.seesudbury.ca and www.yessudbury.ca.

I also created a www.friendlysudbury.ca website which is currently being used as a campaign information site, however does contain the Friendly Sudbury message that our community is: Age Friendly, Arts Friendly, Business Friendly, City Hall Friendly, Cycle Friendly, Disability Friendly, Environmentally Friendly, Ethnic Friendly, Gender Friendly, Health Friendly, Lake Friendly, Park Friendly, Pedestrian Friendly, Shopping Friendly, Sports Friendly and Visitor Friendly.

Let’s take the opportunity to make Sudbury Friendly again – we can do it!

John Lindsay, councillor candidate – www.johnlindsay.ca – 705-507-6037
