An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at Walden Public School.
Two more confirmed cases have been reported in a Grade 5-6 class at the school, which had already been dismissed. There are three students at the school who have active cases of COVID-19. The school remains open.
An outbreak in a school is defined as two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in students or staff (or other visitors) in a school where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the school.
Including Walden Public School, there are four active outbreaks of COVID-19 in area schools. There are 60 active cases of COVID-19 in area schools.
Notwithstanding today’s weather-related bus cancellations, Sudbury Student Services Consortium is also reporting more than 30 active bus route cancellations either due to bus driver shortages brought on by the impact of COVID-19 or COVID-19 exposures.
The list is as follows:
- The consortium has announced the following route cancellations for the week of Dec. 6 due to driver shortages - routes L010 (afternoon only), L025, L026, L027, L110, L113 (except for the transfer secondary afternoon run), L137, L361 (except for the transfer secondary morning run), L364, L658, L807, L820 and L878.
- COVID-19 exposure on the morning secondary portion of bus route L823. The route is cancelled and will resume Thursday, Dec. 16. The affected school is MacDonald Cartier.
- COVID-19 exposure on the afternoon secondary portion of bus route L017 - The route is cancelled and will resume Thursday, Dec. 16. The affected school is MacDonald Cartier.
- COVID-19 exposure on the morning elementary portion of bus route L866 - The route is cancelled and will resume Wednesday, Dec. 15. The affected school is Hélène Gravel.
- COVID-19 exposure on the afternoon elementary portion of bus route L866 - The route is cancelled and will resume Wednesday, Dec. 15. The affected school is Hélène Gravel.
- COVID-19 exposure on the morning elementary portion of bus route L355 - The route is cancelled and will resume Wednesday, Dec. 15. The affected schools are Churchill and Westmount.
- COVID-19 exposure on the morning elementary portion of bus route N421 - The route is cancelled and will resume Tuesday, Dec. 14. The affected schools are Valleyview, La Découverte and Jean-Paul II.
- COVID-19 exposure on the afternoon elementary portion of bus route N445 - The route is cancelled and will resume Tuesday, Dec. 14. The affected schools are Valleyview and Lo-Ellen.
