A vaccination clinic will be held Friday, June 4 at the Real Canadian Superstore Loblaw Pharmacy at 1485 Lasalle Boulevard. It is the same venue where a drive-through vaccination event was held on May 10.

A COVID-19 vaccination clinic is taking place in Sudbury on Friday.

The event is scheduled to occur from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 4 at the Real Canadian Superstore Loblaw Pharmacy at 1485 Lasalle Boulevard.

People can book online and make appointments through the company website at realcanadiansuperstore/covid19 .

The pharmacy said the clinic will be open to senior citizens aged 80 and older for their second dose of Pfizer and open to all others aged 12 years and older who need to receive their first dose of vaccine.

The pharmacy said it will be providing the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine. Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines will not be available at this clinic.

This means that second-dose vaccine seekers must have already had the Pfizer vaccine for their first dose.

All vaccine seekers are asked to bring their Ontario Health Card so that they can be properly registered on the COVAX system to ensure they are getting the correct vaccine at the correct time.

The pharmacy said it expects to accommodate up to 100 vaccine seekers at the Friday event.

The Real Canadian Superstore is the same venue where a drive-through vaccination event was hosted by the Primacy Medical Centre on May 10. More than 750 Sudbury area residents were able to get their first dose of a vaccine at that time.

Recent information provided by Public Health Sudbury and Districts said that more than 94,000 Sudbury district residents (aged 18+) have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine while more than 13,000 people have received the second dose. By percentage, these are 58.6 per cent and 8.6 per cent respectively.

At the provincial level, the numbers are 63.5 per cent and 4.5 per cent.
