Update: Woman pulled from Buchanan house fire pronounced dead in hospital, says deputy chief

Greater Sudbury Fire Services is on scene of a residential fire on Buchanan Street.

Updated April 8 at 12 p.m.: Deputy Fire Chief Jesse Oshelle said the woman pulled from a house fire on Buchanan Street earlier today has been pronounced deceased in hospital. 

"(Greater Sudbury) Fire Services extends its deepest condolences to all those affected," Oshell wrote in his tweet.

Greater Sudbury Police Services and the Ontario Fire Marshal are taking over the investigation and the scene, the deputy chief added.

Updated April 8 at 11 a.m.

Greater Sudbury firefighters located a woman inside the building, and she was extricated to waiting paramedics, said deputy chief Jesse Oshell.

The woman has been taken to Health Sciences North. Her injuries are unknown.

Fire is under control at this time.

Greater Sudbury Fire Services is on scene of a residential fire on Buchanan Street.

Three fire stations responded to the call at 9:30 a.m. 

Deputy fire chief Jesse Oshell said the two-story building contains two units.

Firefighters located a female patient in the building and have extricated to waiting paramedics. She has been transported to hospital. Fire is under control at this time.

“Crews are getting in at the fire right now and searching the building,” Oshell told Sudbury.com.
