Dancing the night away with Easter Seals Stars

Event has raised more than $700,000 for Easter Seals.

The seventh annual Dancing with the Easter Seals Stars dance competition got underway at the Caruso Club on Friday night.

Eight pairs of dancers, half of them pros, took to the dance floor to raise money for Easter Seals.

The event has raised more than $700,000 across the province since its inception, and this year's edition in Sudbury had already brought in more than $50,000 before the evening fundraisers were tallied.

Easter Seals CEO Kevin Collins was on hand for the evening and was joined by Easter Seals ambassador, 13-year-old Kaeden Dennie and former ambassador Ryan Benoit.

Ben MacDonald from Sault Ste Marie was the third ambassador slated to attend, but some inclement weather kept him in the Soo for the evening.

Darlene Palmer from Sudbury Rotary Sunrisers presented Dennie with a cheque for $1,000 to go towards Easter Seals.

Be sure to check back with Sudbury.com for a list of winners as well as the total amount raised on the evening.
