A funeral service for 42-year-old Daphne (Davinder) Kochar is being held Saturday between 12 and 2 pm at the Lougheed Funeral Home on Regent St.

The woman's body was found by hunters in Burwash in late December after she went missing on Nov. 6.

Daphne was the beloved wife of Dr. Harinder Kochar, a well-known local doctor, and the mother of daughters Jasmine, 16, and twins Simran and Karuna, 13.

According to her obituary, Kochar was born in Jabilpur, India, and immigrated to Canada at the age of six. She was raised in Burlington, Ontario, and later moved to Newfoundland after getting married.

Sudbury became her home after the birth of her first daughter. Kochar was known for her efforts for the Sudbury Sikh Society, the Sudbury Hindu Society, Indo-Canada Society of Sudbury and multi-faith groups.

She was also known for her "distinctive sense of style and acute shopping skills" as well as her "ingenious culinary and decorating skills."

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Davinder (Daphne) Kochar Bursary Fund towards her daughters' two schools (MacLeod Public School and Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School) would be greatly appreciated.
