The Sudbury and District Labour Council is conducting a memorial service on April 28 at Tom Davies Square at 10 a.m.

This service is in honour of workers who have been killed, injured or disabled on the job. April 28 has been declared a national day of mourning by the Canadian Labour Council, and is now recognized worldwide.

Sudbury was the first region in Canada to declare the date of mourning. The Steelworkers are proud of the accomplishment by the Labour Council.

Local 6500 will be conducting a similar service in the Upper Hall of the Caruso Club, 385 Haig St., at 11:30 a.m. Guest speakers will be Leo Gerard, international president of United Steelworkers, and Gerry Lougheed Jr.

Those interested in attending are asked to phone Joe Guido at 675-3381 ext. 237 or Angela at 675-3381 ext. 238 to confirm attendance.
