You know the joke. There are two seasons in Sudbury: winter and road construction season.

Expect traffic to be slow in these construction areas:

- Kingsway and Falconbridge Rd., Sudbury: Construction is underway to increase traffic capacity and improve traffic flow at this intersection bordered by Second Ave. Delays are expected due to lane reductions and restrictions. Motorists are reminded to allow extra time to reach their destination and to take alternate routes when possible. The project is expected to be complete in November.

- Intersection of MR 80 (Hwy. 69 N) and MR 15 (Main St.), Val Caron: Eastbound and southbound motorists should be prepared to merge to one lane at the intersection of Hwy. 69 north and Main St. in Val Caron. Lane closures will be in effect during the overnight hours, between 10 pm and 6 am, from Aug. 2 to Aug. 4 and again from Tuesday, Aug. 9 to Thursday, Aug. 11. This temporary traffic disruption will permit work by a private engineering consultant.

- Panache Lake Rd: A culvert replacement on Panache Lake Rd., adjacent to St. Pothier Rd., will reduce traffic to one lane in both directions this week until Friday.

- MR 55 at the Vermilion River Bridge: MR 55 at the Vermilion River bridge, will occasionally be reduced to one lane for construction of a pedestrian walkway over the Vermilion River as part of the Trans Canada Trail Plan. Work is expected to be complete Sept. 1.

- Dominion Dr., Hanmer: Traffic will be reduced to a single lane on Dominion Dr., between Heritage and Concorde St., starting Tuesday, Aug. 2, for installation of services by a private developer. Residents with homes adjacent to the construction site will have access to their driveways at all times. Contractors will work from 7 am to 9 pm. Two lane traffic will be restored after 9 pm. Construction should be completed by Friday.

- Bruyere St., Sudbury: Installation of a new watermain, road improvements and resurfacing will limit access to local traffic. Work is expected to be complete by late August.

- Long Lake Road between Paris St. and St. Charles Lake Rd.: Motorists can expect traffic delays at the Four Corners intersection. Access on Long Lake Rd. will remain at two lanes in each direction, but lanes will be rerouted as road widening progresses. This project will improve the intersection and widen Long Lake Road to accommodate current and future commercial and residential development in the south end. Work is expected to be complete by the end of August.

- Paris Street Bridge rehabilitation: Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction. The Paris Street work is expected to be complete by the end of August.
