Delta Bingo and Gaming has pledged $1.2 million toward more than 150 local charitable organizations in the latest quarter (June 1 to Aug. 31).
This brings their 12-month pledge to $4.4 million.
These funds are used for food programs, education, health care, arts and culture, youth sports and other community-driven programs and services.
Delta Bingo and Gaming’s Sudbury location began a partnership with the Ontario Charitable Gaming Association in 2006, and their sister site in Val Caron joined in 2012.
Through this program, a portion of proceeds goes toward local charitable causes.
Since the program began, more than $43 million has been raised for local charitable groups across Greater Sudbury.
In total, 37 charitable gaming centres in Ontario have raised more than $560 million for over 2,500 charities and their communities.
In a media release, Inner-City Home of Sudbury president Joe Drago thanked the bingo centres for their contributions.
“Special events, donations of food and cash are critical to keep us afloat,” he said. “We have an arrangement that for every dollar donated we can receive three dollars of purchasing power for food. Delta Bingo has been instrumental for us. We are on a generous schedule and as a result, we generate substantial income monthly. Without Delta Bingo's help, I believe it would be difficult to continue our service. Our Board of Directors thanks Delta Bingo. We are fortunate and proud to be on your team.”
