A large blast some in Greater Sudbury felt around 9 a.m. Friday morning was the result of a controlled blast by Fisher Wavy Inc. at its Wavy Quarry, located at Ceasar Road.
Fisher Wavy regional manager Malcolm Croskery said the blast was originally scheduled for Thursday, but unfavourable weather conditions postponed the blast until Friday morning. The blast took place at 9:07 a.m.
“The weather conditions weren't favourable yesterday, so we held off until today,” Croskery said. “It's a licensed quarry, and it was a controlled blast that met all the requirements of the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Natural Resources. There won't be any more blasts in the near future.”
