An 18-year-old man has been charged with stunt driving after pulling two wheelies in front of a marked Greater Sudbury Police vehicle June 1.

The officer watched the teen perform the stunt in Val Therese at around 1:45 p.m.

The teen's dirt bike was impounded and his driver's licence was suspended for seven days. The minimum fine for a stunt driving charge is $2,000.

“Greater Sudbury Police would like to remind citizens that dirt bikes are not permitted on any roadway in City of Greater Sudbury,” said a press release.

“Dirt bikes are only permitted on private property with permission from the land owner or on crown land providing the dirt bike is plated and insured.  Additional information may be found on both the City of Greater Sudbury website and the Greater Sudbury Police Service website pertaining to the ATV bylaw.    

“Road Safety is an integral component of Our Shared Commitment to Community Safety and Well-Being. Greater Sudbury Police ask all motor vehicle operators to obey the laws and be respectful to others on our roadways.”
