People will gain an extra hour of sleep tonight.

Daylight saving time ends Sunday, Nov. 7 at 2 a.m. That means that early Sunday morning the clocks will fall back an hour.

An Ontario politician — Jeremy Roberts, who represents Ottawa West-Nepean — is working to stick to daylight time and not have the clocks change twice a year. A private member's bill to end the time change in Ontario passed last year. To move ahead, New York State and Quebec would have to be on board.

With clocks falling back, fire departments also encourage people to change smoke detector batteries as well.
