GOVA Transit’s downtown hub reopens to the public today, Sept. 1.

The hub at 9 Elm Street was closed March 20 as part of the city’s COVID-19 response.

Naturally, safety measures are in place to keep the staff and the public safe from the virus.

“Following Public Health’s guidelines, everyone who enters is required to wear a non-medical face mask or face covering and practise physical distancing,” the city said in a news release.

With the reopening, transit riders will have access to the hub’s indoor washrooms and waiting area.

The city said this morning the building has been “evaluated to ensure it meets all health and safety guidelines.”

Enhanced cleaning measures and regular sanitation of high-touch surfaces are also in place. Extra security staff has also been stationed at the hub to monitor building capacity.

The transit hub kiosk has also reopened, modified to ensure physical distancing, so riders can once again purchase ride cards and passes at the hub. Cards are passes can still be purchased at other retail locations in the city.

For more information on transit routes and schedules, and for a list of retailers where passes and cards are available for purchase, can be found on the GOVA Transit website or by phoning 705-675-3333.
