Take part in a night of dinner and dancing and register for the July 15 races. Dragon boat teams who attend with at least 10 boat members receive a $250 discount in registration fees.

“In our 18th year, the Sudbury Dragon Boat Festival continues to offer an exciting physical activity to adults and youth in our community,” said Jim Dickson, a co-chair of the Sudbury Dragon Boat Festival.

“The festival, since its start, has raised over $1.5 million dollars for a variety of local charity capital campaigns.”

This year, festival proceeds go to the Sudbury Hospice Foundation.

“Monies raised will go directly to fund the costs for the expansion of Maison McCulloch Hospice which recently launched a three year, $5.1 million STAND BY ME Capital Campaign,” said Sudbury Hospice Foundation executive director Yolanda Thibeault.

“We look forward to this great partnership and to further enhance community awareness of quality hospice palliative care services.”

The event gets underway at 6 p.m. March 25. Tickets cost $40 each, and are available at Maison McCulloch Hospice, Gloria's Restaurant, Co-operator's Gavard Financial Ltd. (1984 Regent Street) or by phone at 705-671-6067.
